1912 United States first 3 billion bushel corn crop grown on 110,000,000 acres 1918 First commercial hybrid corn cross made 1926 Rolland Stone makes first commercial crosses with seed from University of Illinois. 1928 Rolland Stone and his father, Percy form P.A. Stone and Son Seed Co. to sell hybrid seed corn 1939 Art Sieben plants first seed production fields and forms Sieben Hybrids 1942 United States again raises 3 billion bushels of corn but only utilizes 89,000,000 acres due to hybrid efficiency. 1950 Bohlen Brothers Seed Co was formed in Moweaqua, IL 1959 Richard Stone, son of Rolland Stone, joins Stone Seed Co. 1971 Chan Sieben joins Sieben Hybrids 1972 Todd Sieben joins Sieben Hybrids 1979 Rolland Stone retires from Stone Seed 1980 Andy Stone joins Stone Seed Co. 1983 PIK (Production-in-kind) program year--national corn acreage reduced by 25-30% 1985 Phil Jordan hired as VP of Seed Operations by Sieben hybrids 1987 Jim Hedges and Brian Zindel purchase Bohlen Brothers facility and form Moweaqua Seed Co. 1991 Jack Smith hired as VP of Sales by Sieben hybrids 1996 The CORE Group is formed. They are joined by Fontanelle Hybrids, Stewart Seeds, and Doebler's Pennsylvania Hybrids. 2000 Phil Jordan and Jack Smith purchase Sieben Hybrids 2003 Trent Griffith purchases 50% of Sieben Hybrids from Jack Smith. 2005 Stone Seed Company and 3 CORE Group partners join Monsanto's American Seeds, Inc. 2006 First Dominator Series hybrids introduced. 2006 Sieben Hybrids becomes a member of The Stone Seed Group and American Seeds.
